JMI Laboratories (www.jmilabs.com) is a global leader in anti-infectives research, operating as a clinical reference microbiology laboratory in support of new drug development including clinical trials.

In business since 2000, JMI Laboratories has millions of test results in our database and the number grows daily. JMI Laboratories uses a very lean and agile approach to developing web apps allowing our in-house team of 50+ microbiologists to efficiently schedule and record results for tens of thousands of samples per year, as well as tools to help our scientific directors and external clients effectively analyze this information.

JMI Laboratories develops software solutions using full web technology stack such as Rails, Python, .Net, Big Data, MS SQL and Postgres to provide the next generation data collection and analysis tools that our organization and clients need. You will have opportunity to work on many projects to improve the efficiency of lab operations and data analysis. The Software Engineering Manager will lead, manage and direct the activities of the diagnostic software products development function, software enhancements and new products.

As part of Software Engineering’s leadership team, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient and effective systems and processes are in place to deliver the highest quality products and services to our customers. The ideal applicant will demonstrate core competencies in enterprise-class commercial software design and development, specifically in the medical device/diagnostic industry. We are searching for one who thrives in a “roll up your sleeves” environment, role-models collaboration and a continuous improvement mindset. The Software Manager will work cross-functionally to guide successful product development strategies.

This position for someone who loves organizing, analyzing, and visualizing data. The successful candidate should be willing to interact directly with our end users, to learn the nuances of operating a high-volume microbiology lab and provide the best tools to our staff and clients. This position provides the opportunity to do both full stack web development as well as data migration and analysis.
