New Chief Scientific Officer: Mariana Castanheira
JMI Laboratories is excited to announce a leadership change effective January 1, 2020.
Dr. Robert (Bob) Flamm, the Chief Scientific Officer since 2016, will step down and move into a part-time advisory role as a part of a phased-retirement plan. Bob has worked at JMI Laboratories since 2011 and previously had a long career in anti-infectives development and pharmaceuticals, including significant positions at Johnson and Johnson, Abbott, Focus Bio-Inova, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. We are thankful for Bob’s service and his willingness to continue providing guidance and mentorship to our scientific team.
Dr. Mariana Castanheira, the Chief Operations Officer since 2017 and a JMI Laboratories employee since 2007, has been elevated to the CSO position. Mariana is a dedicated scientist and tireless worker who is ready to accept this challenging role. Her experiences in microbiology and molecular research, scientific writing and editing, as well as her national involvement in the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) prepared her to lead our scientific activities.
